It is not possible to walk past KV without stopping for a look. KV is a café, a bar and a restaurant with a clear view of the 131-year-old Tunnel of Istanbul. The café was built in 1885 by Italian architects into a three-block inn. 
Hacer Gündo du, first opened a café called Atrium in the desolated inn, where she used to make sandwiches. Besides selling sandwiches, Gündo du, who studied economics in Vienna, also tried selling second hand furniture. There were new tenants coming to the historical inn so her sandwich place turned into a café. The inn was slowly gaining back its old glory with the new comers. After KV introduced its restaurant and bar section, many interesting café places were opened. KV is designed with antique furniture. The place makes you forget about time. The gothic dresses and tables evoke an impression that you might be living in the middle ages. The bill is brought to your table in bahadum shaped boxes. In the yard of the inn, there are book shops, seller of second hand books and stationeries. Jazz music with Cihan Baybur: Being at KV is a relaxing opportunity to listen Jazz music and drink wine or coffee. There is a big screen in the yard, which shows Cihan Baybur playing the piano. At the meyhane (pub) of KV you can taste appetizers with your drink. The prices vary between YTL 35 to 50 per person, on the pub side the average price is around YTL 75, which may vary according to the wine you drink. On the weekends KV might be crowded so it's better to have reservations. Fidan Kezban, one of the managers of KV, suggests steak and fig desert. Kezban also recommends the open buffet breakfasts on Saturday mornings with the accompaniment of singing birds. The chocolate and orange cake is one of the delicious tastes, which is hard to say no to with five o'clock tea. KV opens its doors at eight in the morning, it is the best time to read your book. On Saturday evenings the environment with colorful candles on the tables takes you on a journey of the old times. KV is open until the early hours of the day.
